What if you had the perfect wellness strategy, so you could get on with the life you’ve been waiting for? Don’t just think about it, let’s design it together – this is your path to health empowerment!
I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Dr. Michelle.
My journey with natural medicine began over 20 years ago. At age 13, I remember making the clear correlation between milk and the havoc it wreaked on my digestion. So, I started experimenting with self-guided nutritional changes and was amazed at how my body responded and how much better I started to feel. More mental clarity, improved energy, reliable digestion, and a sense of enthusiasm for life (and my future!) emerged.
Through a series of fortuitous events and beautifully placed people along my path, I discovered the world of naturopathic medicine, which had a profound resonance with my core values of finding the root cause of dis-ease, living in harmony with the rhythms of nature, and utilizing nutrition and natural therapies to heal some of the most complex of conditions.
My introduction to acupuncture was a little more profound. It resulted from an unfortunate fall leading to a mild concussion and unbearable physical pain. Unwilling to take pain medications, I sought out an alternative and found an acupuncturist. After one treatment, and a strong herbal formula, my pain completely disappeared – no joke! I was amazed and inspired and immediately knew that I wanted to share this sort of therapy with others. So, I integrated these modalities with my naturopathic medical studies.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Michelle as my primary care provider for about 3 years. From the first appointment with her, I felt valued and appreciated. She treats people with respect and love. That is rare, in my experience. I feel like I matter to her, and that means a lot. Her knowledge of the human body, health and healing are vast and it is growing. She is a true healer, in the best sense of the word.- Kirsten in Portland, OR
After the rigors of a six-year program at Bastyr University and an externship in China, I began noticing that something was missing. I had the book knowledge, some brilliant protocols, and a deep understanding of the human body, but the energetic components – the spirituality and art of my medicine – were lacking.
Through my schooling, I was exposed to Taiji and Qigong, but in the midst of my demanding studies, I wasn’t able to fully experience and appreciate the beauty and power of these ancient practices. During my search for that missing piece, I rediscovered the practice of Qigong and knew immediately that I needed to pursue it more seriously.
Since then, I’ve become a student of the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School, where I’m participating in their Self-Cultivation and Teacher Training Program.
Continually striving to expand my knowledge base and increase treatment options for my patients, I’m also pursuing functional medicine certification. Functional medicine is a field of study that elegantly bridges the gap between conventional medical doctors and naturopathic physicians.
Poor Sleep, Insomnia, Anxiety, Mild-to-Moderate Depression, Chronic Stress, Neurotransmitter Imbalances, Nervousness, Excessive Worry, OCD, ADHD
Adrenal Fatigue, Thyroid Imbalances, Irregular Periods, PMS, PCOS, PMDD, Menopause, Low Sex Drive, Preconception Care, Fertility, Low Testosterone, Diabetes, Osteoporosis
Autoimmune Conditions (Hashimoto’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Grave’s, etc.), Digestive Issues (Heartburn, Gas, Bloating, Constipation, Diarrhea, etc.), Frequent Colds & Flus, Allergies
Let’s be real, the Internet is full of health ‘gurus’ and icons with little to no medical training telling you what to do, but does it work? Is it safe? Does it interact with the other meds or supplements you’re taking? Which nutritional plan is best for you – Paleo, FODMAPS, SCD, Blood-Type, Gluten-Free, GenoType, Anti-Inflammatory, Low Histamine? Or when should you seek conventional medical care?
As a trained primary care physician, I’m able to answer these questions, but I’m also able to help you with much more. I take special interest in a field of study called neuroendoimmunology, which means that I’m interested in how your nervous system, hormones and immune system interact – scroll down for a better idea of how I can help you. In some ways I consider myself a specialist, but I’m always taking a holistic approach to your health and wellness – true mind-body medicine.
Although I have a solid scientific foundation, I’m not limited by that paradigm. There’s more to our health than biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology – we are made up of and surrounded by various vibrations that interact with us on all levels. You may have heard one of these vibrations called Qi, Prana, or the Vital Force. Whenever we work together, I will always be keeping these aspects in mind. You’re an individual, and you deserve individualized medicine.
I hope to meet you soon!
Dr. Michelle is, first of all, a beautiful soul. She is kind, patient, and a wonderful listener. I can FEEL her healing energy and that she truly cares about her patients and colleagues. I have come to her often with questions about how to manage complex patients. Her insights and experiences are always excellent, well supported and patient centered.
Her go getter attitude, amazing discipline, organizational skills and professionalism will continue to serve her in her medical practice, as will her vast knowledge base in both Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, and Functional Medicine. She is a scholar and is committed to furthering her knowledge base through continuing medical education and seminars. I have been very impressed by her patient protocols–she has put great thought and energy into each of them.
Dr. Michelle is a natural born healer, of that I have no doubt. I am blessed to know her and clients are lucky to meet her because she will do everything in her power to help them become the best versions of themselves.- Dr. Maysa Alavi in Los Angeles, CA
